Ok, so I've been doing the folk dance thing and I like it. It's fun and gives me something to do. I wasn't really thinking about the future and SPAC (Spring Performing Arts Company) tryouts are next Wednesday! Here is the deal, SPAC reherses all through winter semester and then during the Spring, they go on tour in Utah, they are gone for many weeks and do all kinds of fun things.
The Cons: I wouldn't be able to go to school during the spring term. I was undecided on this matter, but I was pretty sure that I was going to take classes. I have no idea how much it costs. I've heard that the school pays for a lot of it, but who knows. Then I would have to buy probably three new pairs of shoes and things like that.
The Pros: Being invloved/having a group. In a school of this magnitude, it would be nice to be able to associate myself with a group. They were talking about it today and it sounds like a heck of a lot of fun. During spring term, the whole team stays in one appartment complex, then the traveling. It would be a great opportunity to force friends on me, because as you know, I do not make friends well.
I want opinions!!!! Tell me what you think, any other aspects I didn't think of. Also, there is still a huge possibility I wouldn't get in even if I auditioned. So keep that in mind.

i say you should definitely audition. and you dont need to take classes over spring semester because you took classes over summer right? so if you dont need to take classes and its not really expensive i think you should do it! it sounds like fun and it would be a great way to make friends! i say go for it!
ReplyDeletetrue emily, but if I only have 5 credits from the summer (then i will have 3 from my online class when i finish it), if i took classes over the spring term, i would have a enough credits for a full semesters worth. And I would still be done with a resonable summer break
ReplyDeleteI definitely think you should at least try out, like you said the audition might made the decision for you. BUt you never know if you never try, and this sounds like something you want alot, and the pros sounded like something you would really enjoy, despite the cons.
ReplyDeleteHm... Perhaps try to chat up some of the previous members and get their opinions? I would love for you to have a group, but I also hope you don't fall behind. I guess my suggestion is to do a little more research (cost, exact time requirements, talk to other members, etc.) and then make your grand decision. Sounds super fun, though.
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you all for the comments. I have been thinking about it a lot, and while it's something I would like to do really a lot, I don't think its the right time. I will still have the option next year, but it just doesn't feel right right now, you know?
ReplyDeleteUm - I'm the momma, so I am leaning towards getting a few more creditos under your belt before you take a semester off. And I thought you were eventually going to do study abroad? That costs a semester, too, ya know. And you already committed to folk dancing. But you decide!
